SOFIA SKVIRSKY
Canadian dance champion Sofia Skvirsky, born in Rehovot, Israel, and raised in Toronto, Canada is a full-time professional dancer, dance instructor, choreographer, and dance conditioning/flexibility coach.
Sofia started her dance training at the age of 5 at the Academy of Ballet and Jazz. Starting off with ballet for a few short years, she then transitioned to Jazz where she fell in love with the speed, dynamic and fun upbeat choreographies. It wasn't until she was 17 where she fell back in love with dance and decided to start training again because it was a true passion for her. She began her salsa training, to then follow heels, hip hop, zouk, lyrical, contemporary and theatre arts cabaret. She is a well-versed dancer who is known for her ability to switch to different styles, roles and moods captivating the audience with each performance through her vulnerability, emotions and energy. Sofia is now dancing professionally around the world with professional dance partner, Carlos Zapata in the Cabaret Dance style. Together with her partner, they have the honor of traveling to different parts of the world to teach and perform. Combined they have won many dance awards and competitions worldwide, and are the current Canadian Cabaret Champions. They are hired to perform on a variety of popular stages including, Americas Got Talent, Revolution, Blackpool Dance Festival as finalists, and many more dance festivals, congresses and ballroom showcases and competitions locally and internationally. Sofia is the Director and Choreographer of her own dance company, Sofia Sky Dance Co. A heels fusion-based dance training and performance program, where she has the pleasure of training woman on a weekly basis, with opportunities to perform on stages locally, across Canada and internationally. She has created her own personal style called "Sofia Sky" where she fuses jazz, heels, latin, lyrical, floor work and theatre to her choreographies. She has also started Dancebody Strong during the pandemic time, where she has helped many dancers develop their strength and flexibility through online coaching, video tutorials, support groups and live classes.
